About me - Long Chen

incoming Ph.D. student @ NEU

Published

HELLO, I’M

Long Chen

incoming Ph.D. student @ Northeastern University (NEU)

I am a M.Phil. student in Operations Research, advised by Prof. Lindong Liu at the School of Management, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and a member of the IDEA Lab. I expect to graduate with a master’s degree in the summer of 2026. Prior to that, I obtained my B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Jiangnan University in 2023.

My research lies at the intersection of integer programming, machine learning, and statistics. I am particularly interested in developing algorithms that are not only efficient but also reliable and fair, with the goal of supporting the design of cutting-edge decision-making tools. My work is often inspired by complex, real-world challenges in high-stakes domains such as emergency management and two-sided platforms.

🎉 I am thrilled to be joining Northeastern University in Boston to pursue my PhD in Industrial Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Tugce Martagan! Excited for this incredible new journey ahead!
